Advancement in the telecommunication is a human miracle. Telecommunication is distant communication, which started with the human need to convey his messages to someone whom he could not make hear his voice. In the primitive or ancient times, right from the fire or smoke signals or drum beating to convey a set message associated with these phenomena, like warning or summoning people, to the present-day digital age of telecommunication, is a long but successful journey of human advancement. With the advent of digital communication the world of telecommunication has entered into a new phase of its progress.

We witness that in the field of telecom, the status of the Muslim countries, more or less, is of customer. It is a sad fact that just likes other fields of life the Muslim world is suffering from lack of technical expertise and leadership deficit in the field of telecom, too. According to the 2009 Arab Human Capital Challenges Report, as cited by Madinah Institute for Leadership and entrepreneurship; The difficulty associated with recruiting national senior management over middle management is largely a result of the limited availability of experienced national professionals. And this is because of inadequate numbers of executive coaching institutes and poor educational quality.

Consequently, the Arab countries have to rely on the qualified expatriates, hence, a good deal of national income drains abroad.

To fulfill this gap and to catch up the advanced industry of telecom, the Muslim countries, especially the Arab countries, with requisite means and resources must launch telecom training and executive coaching programs to produce leadership and entrepreneurship to cater to the present and the future needs of the telecom industries in the otherwise growing Middle East markets and the Muslim world, in general.

Technology is monopoly of none. It is a human legacy. Sooner or later every technology leaks out to become common. The Islamic countries, too, get their share of the technology but being customers at second place. In the mean time they learn and teach to use the received technology, there come other advanced versions of the previous technology or altogether a new one. And again the Muslims get it as customers and as second hand. So in the field of technology we find little room to lead. With respect to telecom, the Muslim countries not only need to establish vocational training institutes but such academic and educational institutes, too, as impart executive coaching and training to produce leaders for the present and the future needs of the telecom markets. Executive coaching in the telecom training is need of hour.

Fortunately, some organizations, realizing the need, are venturing to pass on effective executive coaching through modern modes of imparting education. Madina Institute of Leadership and entrepreneurship (MILE) is working on these lines.

MILE is a Saudi Arabia based organization, determined to produce leaders and entrepreneurs and strategists for the Middle East, in particular, and in general, for the other Muslim countries, in the field of business, banking, commerce, telecom etc. To achieve this goal, the MILE provides a learning platform with worlds renowned executives of the successful business companies and consulting organizations, economists and research scholars of business studies. Regarding telecom, it offers Leadership Program on High Performance Telecom.

The MILE holds seminars and webinars. The participants can join them live or through internet. Here they get practical education of the real world. The MILE has set a good example but more efforts are required to contribute to make great difference.
